Vernis & Bowling’s Charlotte office is seeking highly motivated second and third-year law students for a clerkship offering hands-on civil litigation experience. We provide a flexible, hybrid-eligible work schedule of 15–20 hours per week during the academic year, with the expectation of transitioning to full-time during the summer.
This position is designed as a direct path to full-time employment as an associate upon graduation.
The Role: Clerks work directly with our litigation team and will gain practical, real-world experience in:
- Conducting legal research and document review.
- Drafting motions and substantive pleadings.
- Propounding and responding to discovery requests.
- Assisting with general trial, mediation, and deposition preparation.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school or eligible to sit for the North Carolina Bar Exam.
- Must be located in or able to commute to the Charlotte area for the in-office portions of the schedule (Elon University Charlotte campus and Flex program students are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Excellent written communication skills and a strict attention to detail.
- Must submit a writing sample alongside your resume.
