Mark Erdman is a South Florida native and graduated from Florida State University with a dual-major BA in History and English Literature. He attended law school at the Florida International University College of Law, and obtained his Juris Doctorate with a certification in Intellectual Property studies. Mark began working immediately out of law school in civil litigation, intellectual property, and commercial real estate transactions. He later transitioned into workers’ compensation law and insurance defense. Since joining Vernis and Bowling, Mark applies his wide experiences in litigation and transactional work to represent condominium and homeowners’ associations.

Mr. Erdman has a wide range of legal experience that he brings as an asset to Vernis & Bowling. He is experienced practicing in Administrative, State, and Federal Courts. His practice has involved both appellate and pre-appellate work. His work has allowed him to succeed in both general trial-court litigation practice, and larger more operational state-wide litigation strategy across various offices.

Mark has a business-first mindset that he applies to every case. His focus is on providing the best possible service for his clients in any function they may need. He has a passion for legal research and writing.  His goal is to ensure businesses succeed and protect them as they achieve their goals.

In his personal life, Mr. Erdman is involved in a number of charity organizations. Most notably, he is a Chapman Partnership member, helping serve homeless and indigent families in the Miami-Dade community. As a young man, Mark achieved the Eagle Scout Award. He is an avid outdoorsman. He is happy spending his weekends enjoying Florida’s natural beauty whenever the weather, sufficient sunscreen, and his wife permit him to do so.

Ms. Post is a native to Florida, having grown up along the Gulf Coast Beaches. She returned to the Tampa Bay area in 2018 after practicing law on the east coast of Florida for eight years.

Ms. Post graduated with honors from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Florida Coastal School of Law where she received multiple Dean’s Honors scholarships. While in law school, Ms. Post clerked at an A.V. rated trial law firm and interned at Jacksonville Area Legal Aid.

Prior to joining Vernis & Bowling, Ms. Post gained experience defending insurance carriers in coverage and a wide variety of other first-party disputes. Ms. Post is an accomplished litigator, having successfully represented clients in appellate and trial court.

Ms. Post is a passionate environmental conservationist and devoted member of the Florida Trail Association. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at the local animal rescue, fostering pets and spending time with her family and friends.

Skyler Trettis is a civil litigation attorney in the St. Petersburg office of Vernis and Bowling. He graduated cum laude from Stetson Law school and graduated cum laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.

Skyler has a concentration in handling legal disputes involving commercial liability, products liability, automobile liability, premises liability (including negligent security), and a variety of professional negligence actions throughout Florida.

Prior to joining Vernis & Bowling in 2017, Skyler was a judicial intern for circuit court Judge Jack Day, where he researched complex civil litigation issues.

Paul is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He was born in Miami, FL. After graduating from the University of Miami in 1973, Paul obtained a master’s degree in library science from Florida State University in 1974. Paul worked as a reference librarian with the Defense Intelligence Agency in Arlington, VA and then with The University of the South in Sewanee, TN. While in Sewanee, Paul was very active in other endeavors including construction tradesperson, owner of a natural foods store, and a captain on the volunteer fire department. He then attended law school in California where he practiced from 1984 to March 2019, with his last position as the Managing Partner of the San Diego office of Borton Petrini, LLP for 13 1/2 years.

He has handled a variety of matters including construction defect litigation, construction site injury, wrongful death, employment, professional errors & omissions, director and officer liability, civil rights, UM/UIM, and fire loss cases via numerous jury trials and arbitrations. He has served as an arbitrator in binding arbitration matters. He has been a presenter at many seminars and lectures over the years. Paul has returned to Florida where he has been licensed to practice since 1985 and his extended family resides.

Jeff Gill was born in Suffern, New York in 1962. He grew up in Waldwick, New Jersey and graduated from Waldwick High School in 1980. He graduated from Haverford College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1984. Following his graduation from college, Jeff coached high school basketball for a year. He then enrolled in the Vanderbilt University School of Law from which he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1988. Upon graduation from law school, Jeff began his legal career in the Pensacola office of Carlton, Fields, et al. He founded the firm of Bridgers, Gill & Holman in 1991 and acted as managing partner there until joining Vernis & Bowling in 2002.

Jeff has tried more than 150 civil jury trials. He has tried and won cases in most Florida jurisdictions including Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, Washington, Gadsden, Lee, Jefferson, Taylor, Madison, Suwannee, Dixie, Columbia, Alachua, Nassau, Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Flagler, Putnam, Marion, Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Pasco, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Hillsborough, Palm Beach, Broward, Dade and Collier counties as well as in the Federal Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida.

Jeff has served as national trial counsel for several large corporations in defense of their Mass Tort Litigation. He has also served as statewide trial counsel in Florida for several fortune five hundred companies. He has obtained defense verdicts for his clients in wrongful death cases in both State and Federal Courts and has prevailed in trials against some of the most high-profile lawyers in Florida including, but not limited to, Fred Levin, Bob Montgomery, Chris Searcy, Mike Papantonio and Joel Wolpe.

Jeff has been the head basketball coach at Pensacola Catholic High School since 2015 and lead the Crusaders to the final four in 2018.
