Patrick H. Gonyea was born in Tupper Lake, New York. He graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Brockport in 1991 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Political Science. While in undergraduate school, Patrick was selected for the Washington Semester Internship Program in the District of Columbia Prosecutor’s Office based on his academic performance. Patrick obtained his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University (NSU), graduating in 1995. While in law school, Patrick was a staff member on the NSU Law Review and was the recipient of the Leo Goodwin Scholarship for Academic Performance. Patrick’s areas of practice include labor and employment law, collective bargaining disputes, director and officer liability, condominium and homeowners' association disputes, error and omission liability, employee pension and benefits compliance, handicap accessibility compliance, and corporate and commercial litigation. Patrick is a member of the Florida Bar, Texas Bar and the Broward County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section, and also is a member of the Florida Bar’s Labor and Employment Law and Trial Lawyer’s Sections. He has given numerous presentations to organizations, bar associations and corporate clients regarding various corporate and employment related topics, including discrimination in the workplace, sexual harassment, employee handbooks, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Workers’ Compensation Retaliation, the Family and Medical Leave Act, employee benefits, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and numerous Director and Officer Liability topics, among others. Patrick is the head of the Firm’s Labor and Employment and Director and Officer Liability Departments.
